ESTIMATED EXPENSES
Following is an estimate of fees and other expenses for the 2007-2008 academic year. These amounts are based on current costs and actual expenses may differ. Please use these figures as you plan your arrival.
Tuition & Required Student Fees
Tuition for the semester is due before the first week of class. Students enrolled in the College of Engineering and Mineral Resources add $590.00 per semester. Students enrolled in the College of Business and Economics add $488.00 per semester. Other programs may have additional costs. Actual fees charged may differ from those indicated below.

- Undergraduate Students (per semester): $7,300.00
Books and Supplies
Certain programs and majors may have additional expenses for books and supplies. Use an estimate of $450.00 per semester.
Housing and Meals
Freshmen (first year) students are required to live in University Residence Halls. Fees for University Residence Halls include room and meals. Students living in University Residence Halls must be prepared to pay residence hall fees for the entire semester by the end of the first week of class. Summer housing is available for students enrolled during summer sessions.
University Residence Halls
- Per semester: $3,413.00
- These costs are based on a double room.
Off-Campus Housing
Off-campus housing is available for those not required to live in University housing. Students living off-campus may be required to pay the equivalent to one to three month’s rent when they move into an apartment or house. After that, rent is usually due on a monthly basis. Off-campus rental rates will vary. An estimate of $600.00 per month is likely needed for rent, utilities (electricity, gas, water?), and food. Students living off-campus may use the dining facilities offered by the Office of Housing and Residential Education.
Health Insurance
All international students are required to have adequate health insurance. Students who do not have health insurance will be required to purchase insurance before registering for classes. The approximate cost per year is $658.00.
Personal Expenses
Personal Expenses include money for clothing, entertainment, and local transportation. Use an estimate of $600.00 per semester.
