English Language Proficiency
Generally, applicants whose first language is not English must submit TOEFL results before an application can be considered for admission to the WVU. The Internet-Based, Computer-Based and Paper-Based TOEFL exams are all accepted in the WVU admissions process.

Paper-Based = 550
IELTS scores are also accepted for admission. Graduate students must have a score of 6.5 and undergraduates must have a 6.0.

In some cases, it may be possible to consider applicants who lack adequate TOEFL scores. Such applicants must enroll in the WVU Intensive English Program prior to beginning their academic program. Applicants who wish to be considered for this option must notify the Office of Admissions when they submit their application.
